Club News and Notices     (maintained by the Club)

The Norfolk Schools' Sailing Association (NSSA) runs a programme of courses on Filby Broad. Staffing of all courses is to the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recommended standards and ratios. The NSSA participates in the RYA Young Sailor's Scheme and offers an Adult Training Scheme for prospective RYA instructors.

Boats available include Oppies, Toppers, Lasers (both radial and full rig), Wayfarers, Vision and Laser 2000. Courses are run by NSSA Instructors throughout the season, geared to all who want to sail, from complete beginners to those who fee ready to tackle the Adult RYA Scheme.

Members are encouraged to progress through the different RYA levels to become instructors and eventually help more children benefit. Membership of the NSSA is open to all pupils at school, members of youth groups up to the age of 19, and to adults actively involved in the training programme. Minimum age for application to youth courses is 8 years. Membership is currently £40.00 per year to cover admin costs and newsletters - no further charges apply for youth courses.

The Association is very anxious to attract people with some Instructor Training experience. Currently a special funding scheme is on offer, incorporating power boat and first aid certifications, so there is no better time to become an RYA Instructor with the NSSA.

For further details of courses and membership information please see our website www.nssa.co.uk for more information.
